Prof. Manuel Ferre Pérez, PhD

Director of Centre for Automation and Robotics UPM-CSIC, Spain

Laurea Degree in Control Engineering and Electronics in 1992 and PhD in Automation and Robotics in 1997, at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), and worked as a PostDoc in the Human-Machine System Laboratory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is currently a Profesor Titular at UPM and Director of ‘Centre for Automation and Robotics UPM-CSIC’.

He has participated and coordinated several research projects in Robotics and Auto- matic Control, both at national and international programs. His research interest is fo- cused on Automatic Control, Advanced Telerobotics, and Haptics. He has four patents of haptic devices and stereoscopic video cameras. He is author of more than 140 publi- cations and editor of the ‘Springer Series on Touch and Haptics System’.

He is a member of EuroHaptics Society, IEEE, euRobotics and CEA. He has served as chair of serveral committees. Currently, he serves as a Treasurer of EuroHaptics Society and chair of euRobotics Technical Committee on Telerobotics & Teleoperation. He has participated in the organization of several IROS and EuroHaptics conferences, hosting EuroHaptics 2008 Conference.
