Dr Sujoy Kar is the Director Medical Services at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata, India. Previously he was the General Manager and Head for Quality and Clinical Research at Apollo. He works with a team of about 500 people (physician consultants, medical staff, post graduate students) who are engaged in treating about 500 in- patients and 1200 out-patients, daily.

Dr Kar (MBBS, 1999) obtained his MD in 2005. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (Healthcare – Indian Statistical Institute, Chennai) and member of professional organizations (American College of Healthcare Executives, American Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology).

Dr Kar joined Apollo Hospitals in 2005. He initiated the Clinical Trials Department at Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals. The Department has conducted over 80 multi-national multi-center FDA approved clinical trials since 2005. He is responsible for planning the Oncology Center of Excellence for Apollo Group of Hospitals (2011) and implementing it across multiple hospitals in the Apollo Group.

Dr Kar was awarded the “Young Leader of the Year” at Apollo Hospitals in February 2012. His efforts include time driven activity based costing, using predictive models and various machine learning algorithms.
