Dr. Steve Rubinow, PhD

Dr Steve Rubinow is the Director, Institute for Professional Development, College of Computing and Digital Media and Lecturer, School of Computing, DePaul University. He also is President of Infocology Inc. Formerly, Dr Rubinow was the CTO and Executive VP of Catalina Marketing Corporation (since 2014).

Mr. Rubinow was the CIO of FX Alliance (since 2012). He serves as a Special Advisor at Canvas Management Company, L.L.C. His focus is on the financial services sector. He was Chief Technology Officer of New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) since March 2006. He served as the CIO for Thomson Reuters. Dr. Rubinow served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of NYSE Euronext, Inc. for over a decade.

He served as Senior Vice President, CTO and CIO for NextCard (2000 to 2001). Prior to joining NextCard, he was the CIO for AdKnowledge (1998-2000) and Vice President of Corporate Management Information Systems for Fidelity Investments (1994 to 1998). He served in senior roles with Budget Rent a Car, Continental Bank and Quaker Oats. He served as CTO of Archipelago Holdings Inc. He has more than 25 years of experience across a variety of industries.

Mr. Rubinow serves on the advisory boards of the University of Illinois College of Business Administration, DePaul University College of Computing and Digital Media, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Technology Summit. Dr. Rubinow served as a Member of Advisory Board at Active Reasoning, Inc and Aspeed Software Corporation. Dr. Rubinow has authored several books on Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer leadership, and has been the recipient of numerous accolades. He was named one of the top 30 socially-savvy US CIOs in 2013 by Aternity for his use of social media and inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame in 2012. Mr. Rubinow was named by Computerworld as one of 2012’s Premier 100 IT Leaders.

He was featured in CIOs at Work by Ed Yourdon (2011), recognized as one of the top 10 CIOs on Wall Street in 2010 by Securities Technology Monitor, recognized as one of the top CIOs on Wall Street in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 by Wall Street & Technology magazine, and received an InfoWorld Award as leader of one of the top 100 IT projects of 2009. Dr. Rubinow served on the adjunct faculty in Computer Science at DePaul University from 1986 to 1994, where he taught undergraduate and graduate classes in database technology and analytic systems. Dr Rubinow holds a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Chemistry as well as M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from the University of Illinois and M.S. in Computer Science from DePaul University.
